On arrival at the Te Puia Thermal Reserve, you'll be welcomed by a Maori guide before being led on a walk through the thermal area past bubbling mud pools, natural springs and sprouting geysers. Further along, at the Maori Arts and Crafts center, you will be immersed in Maori culture as you watch the Maori carvers and weavers at work.

From Te Puia travel by way of the Government Gardens, dominated by the Tudor- style Bath House which is now a Museum. The Gardens are also noted for their bowling greens and croquet lawns which are well used by the local people. Leaving the Gardens the tour passes Queen Elizabeth Hospital, world renowned for its treatment of arthritic and rheumatic ailments, then follow the Rotorua Lakefront, where you may see duck, black swans and some sea birds. After a short journey, you'll board an 8- seater aerial gondola for a leisurely scenic ride up Mount Ngongotaha to the Skyline Restaurant for lunch. This is one of the few places in the world that has had its development recorded and measured since the day it was created. Waimangu Valley is a tranquil, uncrowded place with an easy walkway partly through bush.

The pathways have been designed to allow intimate involvement with the outstanding geothermal features and plants. Often referred to by visitors as "the most beautiful place we have seen in New Zealand." You will see spectacular large craters filled with hot colored or clear water, silica terracing, hot running streams, fumaroles and hot springs. Following the visit continue to Huka Falls. At the Huka Falls, the Waikato River which is normally 1. Every second up to 7,8. The name Huka is the Maori word for 'foam', which is appropriate as the falling water and rapids certainly resembles foam, especially under flooding conditions.
